About
Hi there! This page will serve as a personal tracker for my blog. I plan to write about stocks, personal finance, investing, and anything else that sparks my curiosity along the way.
Most of my posts are on publicly traded businesses. I typically review the worst-performing sectors and companies to identify where sentiment has been hit the hardest. From there, I look for businesses that might simply be caught up in broader sector weakness or general market sell-offs, rather than those facing company-specific issues, as that is a good place to start.
I try to keep the approach very simple and look at the business from a bare bones view. I think this is a good way to clarify my thinking, and more importantly, looking back why I made the decision I made. It’s not meant to display expertise, but to build a foundation that will evolve over time.
My goal is simple—to become a sharper, more disciplined investor. While I would love to buy and hold businesses that are the "hold forever" types, I also own the index and hence there are some that are hold forevers, but others simply where I believe the risk is very attractive to obsorb at certain price - of course all things considered that is. I typically focus on the following 5 things;
1) business model/economics/value propsition;
2) strong player in a growing market, good competitive dynamics;
3) a good management team that is highly ethical and honest;
4) predictability of the business and lastly;
5) price and valuation fairly for the quality.
